REEVA OCKEY ANDERSON WILDE, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24th, 2020 in Cardston at the age of 95. Born in Cardston, Alberta, Canada on November 1st, 1924 to Herman Russell Ockey and Thelma Wynder Ockey, Reeva was the oldest child of thirteen. Reeva was raised in Beazer, Stavely and a short time in Rosemary, Alberta. She attended a one room school house until she moved to Cardston to work where she met Pete Anderson.
She married W.L. (Pete) Anderson on October 22nd, 1947 in the Cardston Temple and they were blessed with 3 sons; Chris O. (deceased), Barton Jay and Vaughn Dee.
She was active all her life and loved to play softball, badminton, and especially enjoyed dancing. Reeva and Pete loved to get together with friends and family to play Rook and enjoy parties. She enjoyed her associations and friendships in the “Sally Ann Club” of which she was a member for over 60 years. She enjoyed community service and received a 50 year pin of membership in the Ladies Auxiliary from the Cardston Hospital.
She loved to travel and was able to take her mother to Israel, Hawaii, and on many road trips throughout the United States.
She loved to garden and was generous in sharing with her neighbors the fruits of her labors. She entered the Cardston Fairs and won many awards for her beautiful flowers and produce. A favourite activity was to go huckleberry picking in the mountains every summer and she always got more than the bears!
Reeva served faithfully in many church callings and after Pete’s passing in 1987, she served two missions to the Family History Centre in Salt Lake City, Utah.
In 1992 she met and married Ronald Wilde. They built a new home and spent many years gardening, dancing and travelling together until his passing in 2018.
Reeva had a vibrant personality and loved life. She loved her children and grandchildren and was very generous and kind. Her happiest moments were spent with family.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Pete, infant son Chris, and five of her siblings; twins Thelma and Thelda; sisters Ileen (Norman) Parker and Larene (Boyd) Gedleman and brother Rex.
She is survived by sons Bart (Sue) and Vaughn (Susan), 16 grandchildren, and 47 great grandchildren.
Also survived by siblings Verene (Delmar) Sillito, Faye (Ralph) Buzzard, Dale (Lynn) Ockey, Myrna (Glen) Dunphy, Karen (Ron) Murphy, Sandra (Don) Sillito and Darren (Pat) Ockey.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cardston Alberta Stake Centre East Hill (338-5 Ave E), in Cardston, AB on Friday, February 28th, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
Friends may meet the family at the church from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. prior to the Service. Interment to follow in the Cardston Cemetery.
