May 15, 1938 – February 22, 2020
The Family of Deanne Fjordbotten is saddened to announce her passing at the Claresholm General Hospital on Saturday, February 22, 2020.
Deanne was born in Michel / Natal, British Columbia on May 15, 1938 to Margaret and John Perchinsky. She is survived by her daughters Tracy (Dean) Hubbard and Karine (Shawn) Keys, grandchildren Miranda, Justin and Andrew Hubbard and Madison Keys, sister Margy (Warren) Berg, along with numerous extended family members and friends.
Deanne took her nursing training in Lethbridge at St. Michael’s School of Nursing graduating as a registered nurse in 1961. The Class of 1961 remained a constant in her life, as friends kept in touch and gathered together every few years. She was looking forward to their 60th Reunion in 2021 as her classmates always held a special place in her heart. She returned to school at the University of Lethbridge graduating with a Bachelor of Nursing in 1987. She spent her career working at the Claresholm General Hospital and the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre. She loved her job, her patients and everyone she worked with.
Deanne was always busy crafting some new project. Cross stitching, quilting, knitting, crocheting, and lately rug hooking with her friends at the Claresholm Library on Thursdays. She also knit about 60 prayer shawls over the years, donating them to people suffering from cancer and illnesses. She was a voracious reader, and the Library had a hard time keeping her in new books.
Deanne was a loyal friend to many, but especially the “Golden Oldies”: Elaine Thompson, Laida Morelos, Mary Koshney and Annette Seymour – friends for over 40 years. Their friendship and support over the years meant everything to her.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Claresholm General Hospital for their care and kindness to Deanne during her final stay. Thank you to Dr. Leishman and all the other doctors for keeping her comfortable, and all the other staff who cared for her. Thank you to the Jack Ady Cancer Centre for everything they did for Deanne, especially Dr. Razavi and nurse Katie for their unwavering support.
At Deanne’s request, no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Claresholm & District Health Foundation in her memory.
