Emma Julianna Lindeman

April 3, 1926 – February 9, 2020

Emma Julianna Lindeman of Milk River passed away peacefully on Saturday February 9 at the age of 93. Emma was born on the Szarko family farm in Township 1 Range 17. She attended school at Bankview, Lethbridge, Coutts, and Milk River. She married Les Lindeman on June 25, 1945 and they lived together through the good times and the bad of farming. She experienced changes in technology and the improved lifestyle of nearly a century of life. She was a housewife and partner in a family farm. Throughout her life she was committed to the community she lived in and strived to make it a great place to live. Emma was involved with the United Church in different capacities over the years: UCW, Sunday school, CGIT and the Choir. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. She was always willing to help with the church suppers and other events, 4H Beef, Milk River Library, she started a 4H Sewing club. She helped to compile the Milk River and District History Book “Under Eight Flags” as President of the New Horizons Group. She enjoyed life with cooking, sewing, quilting, china painting, judging at fairs, and spending time with family and friends. Later in life Emma and Les enjoyed travelling across Canada and parts of the USA and Europe. Emma will be missed by her daughter Louise Bursa, and her three sons, William (La Rae), Leslie (Katherine), and Brian (Delores); her ten grandchildren: Kim, Lenore, and Julia (Daniel) Lindeman; Adrienne and Claire (Lauren) Bursa; Roberta (Marty) and Chris (Lisa) Lindeman; Kelsey (Andrew) and James Lindeman; four great-grand children Molly Strub and Willa Simpson, August and Ellen Lindeman; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her sister Louise Hut and her brother Chester Szarko. She was predeceased by her husband Les Lindeman, parents George and Mary Szarko, brother Joe Szarko, sisters Elizabeth Wachtler and Irene Leister, son-in-law Mirek Bursa, and granddaughter Danielle Lindeman. A Memorial Service was previously scheduled for March 28, 2020 in Milk River AB, however due to current social circumstances surrounding COVID-19, a new date will be announced once established.
