COURTNEY DUANE LOOSE born September 26, 1943 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 25, 2020 in Calgary, Alberta. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda, and his children Laura (Hollick) Chipman, Michael Loose and Marianne Loose, and his grandchildren Grace and Holt Chipman. He is predeceased by his parents, siblings and his son, Jimmy.
Courtney’s love for woodwork and his skill at craftsmanship served him well in building the home in Glenwood, Alberta where he and Linda raised their family. For 40 years, Courtney served the community and surrounding area as a driver examiner, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. As a member of the Glenwood Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many callings over the years. As a young man he served a mission in West Germany. He had a love for scouting and a real gift for teaching the gospel. Most recently, Courtney had the opportunity to serve in the Cardston, Alberta Temple and felt it was such a blessing to him.
Singing and music were among his favourite hobbies. He was well known for his beautiful tenor voice and enjoyed singing in community musicals, church choirs, men’s quartets and solos all over Southern Alberta. He also sang alongside his wife in groups such as the Loochels and the Loose-Clark Connection. He treasured the friendships that came with these associations. It made him most happy when he would sing and was accompanied by his wife on the piano.
Courtney’s greatest treasure was his family. He cherished each one of them and the time they spent together. He was always eager to teach and help them with tasks or projects that they were working on. He was always a kind, gentle and compassionate husband, father and friend. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
Courtney fought bravely alongside doctors, nurses and staff for 78 days in Calgary’s Peter Lougheed Hospital before passing. We, the Loose family, would like to thank all of the staff for their hard work and dedication in the care of our dear husband and father. Because of our love for the medical staff and workers and due to this precarious time we are living in, it is with sadness that we request people wishing to attend Courtney’s service that they do so via the live stream to keep everyone healthy and safe.

Dear Laura and Hollick,
With sincere sympathy to you and your family.
Dear Linda and Family,
When I think of Courtney, I think of my Dad and how much he loved listening to you and Courtney sing together, and especially at his funeral. I’m sure he was there listening.
Please know that we are praying for you at this difficult time. May our loving Heavenly Father bless you with peace, strength, and health. We pray that you will feel the comfort and guidance of the Holy Ghost.
Our sincerest sympathy,
Johnny and Arlene ZoBell
