Mrs. Dorothy Phyllis Manning (née Rea) (known as Phyllis) of Lethbridge, Alberta, beloved wife of the late Neil Houston Manning, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at the age of 90 years.
Phyllis was the only child of Catherine (née Wright) and William Rea. As a child she loved gymnastics and dance. She attended the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute and the University of Alberta and became a schoolteacher. She began her teaching career in Warner, Alberta, and she also taught in Taber and Calgary Alberta. She and Neil, her beloved husband of 63 years, were married on July 10, 1954, and began their family.
Phyllis is survived by her two daughters, Catherine Manning (late James Bush), and Elizabeth Manning (Heinrich Herlea) and one son, William Manning (Nicole Lafleur).
Phyllis was the loving grandmother of eight grandchildren: Ryan Sharp (Jennifer Ker), Alexander Manning (Stephanie), Dominic Manning, Francis Manning, Michael Kosteniuk (Krystal), Dr. Suzanne Kosteniuk (Sartaj Hundal), Isabelle Kosteniuk, and Rachel Bush.
In addition, Phyllis was the loving great-grandmother of eight great-grandchildren: Cadence, Levi, Jemma, Soloman, Spencer, Julia, Catherine, and McKenna.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Catherine and William Rea, and by her beloved husband, Neil, on March 5, 2018
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am, on Tuesday July 14, 2020 at Martin Brothers Funeral Chapel, located at 610 – 4th Street South in Lethbridge, Alberta, with Reverend Eva Stanley officiating.
Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
Due to the restrictions in place from the Chief Medical Officer of Health – Funeral Services are now limited to 100 attendees. Including family and Funeral Home Staff.
