HOWLETT

Lorraine Sueko Howlett, beloved wife of Gerald and cherished mother of Jessica, passed away peacefully at home on August 16, 2020, wrapped in the loving arms of her family. She will be deeply and forever missed by her husband, her daughter, and her son-in-law, Blayne.

Lori was born on September 21, 1962, in Bassano, Alberta, to Yosh and Kay Maruno and was the final addition to our family. We moved to Vauxhall in 1965 and in 1970, our parents purchased Wendy’s Dairy Bar. For Lori, her most vivid childhood memories were of her days spent working there.

Following graduation in 1980, Lori moved to Calgary with her childhood sweetheart, Gerald. Upon completing her accounting diploma, she began a successful thirty-eight year career in the oil and gas industry.

Gerald and Lori were happily married for thirty-six years, building a loving home and family. Her role as Mom to her only child, her ‘Darlin’ Jessica, brought her great joy and fulfillment. Lori loved life and could light up any conversation that she was a part of. She had a quick wit, a great sense of humour, an easy laugh and a twinkle in her eye, that we all loved. She adored her family and loved baking sweets for their special occasions and large holiday celebrations.

Lori loved reading, gardening and travelling, especially if that meant a pool, a book and poolside service. An ideal night for her would be spent at home, with her family, cheering on the Flames. She also loved her career and the many friends she made along the way.

Lori also leaves behind her older siblings, Lois (Ron) Maloney, Susan (Brian) Van Uden, Larry Maruno, Annie (Robert) Janzen, Linda (David) McMillan and Janet (Larry) Lavallee and many loving nieces and nephews and their families.

We would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and the staff at Palliative Home Care for their support.

A private family service will be held. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Christensen Salmon Generations Funeral Home.
