Richard “Lee” Westbrook

1945 – 2021

Richard “Lee” Westbrook of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Lois Westbrook, passed away suddenly, on August 9th at the Age of 76 years old.

Born in High River in 1945, Lee was an active member of the Boy Scouts of Canada eventually achieving the top grade and honor in Scout training, Queen Scout. Outside of Scouts and later in life, Lee loved to golf, curl and spend time with his friends and family.

Lee and Lois were married in 1973, soon after that they moved to Lethbridge in 1978 where they continued to raise their two boys, Doug and Trevor. Lee was known as the “King of Port-o-Potties” in Lethbridge, serving in the waste management business for 38 years. He was also an avid member of the Elks Lodge, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and a the Minors Library. Later in life, Lois and Lee enjoyed traveling to 6 continents of the world and even sailing past the 7th; Antarctica.

Lee will be missed by his friends, his family, and his wife Lois who he shared 48 years of marriage with.

Besides his loving wife, Lois, Lee is survived by his sons Doug (Christine) Westbrook, Trevor Westbrook; stepsons Alan (Anna) Gilbertson and Chad (Helen) Gilbertson; grandchildren Bailey and Emma Westbrook, Jordan and Jessie Westbrook; brother Dave (Glenyce) Westbrook; nieces Megan, Jean, Christie, and Baylee.

Lee was predeceased by his parents Jack and Greta Westbrook as well as his brother Ken Westbrook.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta with Reverend Glenda Wert, officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes that memorial donation to be made to the Lethbridge Food Bank, 1016 2 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB T1J 0C9, and the Animal Shelter, 2405 41 St North Lethbridge, AB T1H 5W3.
