Norman “Norm” Hunt

1924 – 2021

Norman James Hunt of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Marguerite, was called home by his Heavenly Father on August 30, 2021 at the “ripe old age of 96”.

Norm was born (in his home) and raised in Lethbridge. At 19 years old, he voluntarily joined the army (1943), shipped over to Britain with the Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA) and saw action in France, Belgium and The Netherlands. He returned to Lethbridge at the end of the War in 1946. On Feb 17, 1951, he married the love of his life Marguerite. He was fortunate to be offered a job by Dr. Sid Slen with Agriculture Canada at The Lethbridge Research Station where he worked for 35 years. He worked for Dr Ruby Larson and then Dr. Ernie Whelan in Plant Sciences.

Norm was active in First Baptist Church in his younger years and was one of its longest standing members. He had a multitude of interests including classical music, languages, chemistry, wood working, electronics and many other interests. However, his favorites were his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

Besides his loving wife, Marguerite, Norm is survived by his daughter Joanne (Jim) Sherwin; 3 sons, Gord (Julie), Ross (Lynda), Lorne (Tracey); 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Norm was predeceased by his parents Johanna and Rupert; 2 sisters Jessie and Phyllis; 4 brothers, Art, Dave, Stan, and Cliff.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm. on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at the FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 1614 5 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB, with Dr. Bruce Martin officiating.
