The family lived in Coaldale, Monarch, and Bow Island. Chiye continued her sewing for family and community. She enjoyed being with people – curling, golfing, dancing, card playing and scrabble. She loved the gatherings with family and friends and especially the annual reunions at the Lyczewski farm near Bow Island.

Chiye is survived by her sons Robert (Bob) and his wife Loraine of Lethbridge, and Gerald (Jerry) of Calgary; grandchildren Todd Matsumoto of Calgary and his daughters Cai-lei and Laurann; Kerri Matsumoto of Calgary and her children Reed and Shae; Corey Matsumoto of Powell River B.C and daughter Karleigh; Jerianne (Glen Legrow) of Calgary and children Ryan and Mya; sister-in-law Sylvia Fukami of Kamloops B.C; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Chiye was predeceased by her husband Massey; parents Katsube and Asako Fukami; brother Malcom (Mac) and wife Sachiko (Sue) Fukami; sister Marie and husband Ted Saito and Brother Tom Fukami.

As per Chiye’s wishes, she will be privately remembered by family and friends. The family would like to thank the kindness and care given to Chiye by the staff at St. Therese Villa.
