Mr. George Lastuka of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Lois Lastuka, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritans Park Meadows on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at the age of 93 years.
George was born in Coaldale Alberta on August 16, 1928, the son of Dan and Yvonne Lastuka. He attended school in Coaldale, and later finished his education in Wrentham after the family moved to a farm in the area in 1943. While in Wrentham, George participated in basketball, baseball, as well as track and field.
George Married Lois Adams on December 1 1948. They were blessed with four children which they raised on their family farm until moving to Lethbridge in 1967.
After moving to Lethbridge, George became an Elks member and moved through the various chairs until he became Exalted Ruler, where he spent many hours volunteering for the Elks organization. Dad was an accomplished handy-man, who was capable of repairing just about anything put in front of him. This served him well in his final job at the Legion housing association, where he worked as maintenance manager and plant operator. His other joy was being a grandfather, where he enjoyed spending time with his children, grand children, and great grand children. Dad also enjoyed family gatherings with mom’s wonderful cooking, socializing with his family and enjoying a good cold beer!
George is survived by and will be sadly missed by son Derral (Carolyn) Lastuka; daughters Donna (Trevor) Kesler, Denise Lastuka (Tim Sully); daughter-in-law Suzanne Tarnava, sister Victoria Credico, 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
George was pre-deceased by his wife Lois, and son Dexter; and his 3 sisters, Rose, Anne, and Mary.
The family would like to thank the staff of Good Samaritans Park Meadows for their support and care during his six year stay.
Dad will always live on in our hearts and memories.
