Posted: March 22nd, 2022Michael Henry Dixon Broadbent
June 15, 1925 – March 19, 2022
Michael Broadbent left this earthly realm at the grand age of 96 years He was bright of mind but weak of body and ready to join his soulmate Patricia and son Keith who passed before him.
He is survived by his daughter, Jane (Greg) Senda, and grandchildren Mika (Jesse) and Teio (Jessica). He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by his sisters Barbara and Joan. Michael was born in Hale, Cheshire, England on June 15, 1925 to Stanley and Dorothy Broadbent.
Michael led a life rich with adventure. At an early age, it was discovered that Michael was an exceptional sprinter. He was selected to represent the British Olympic team at the 1948 games in London, England. However, an unfortunate injury put a quick end to that dream.
At the age of 17, he became Sub Lieutenant Michael Broadbent for the British Navy. He served on aircraft carriers Unicorn and Glory in the South Pacific.
Michael became a mechanical engineer and brought his family to start a new life in Canada. Michael, Patricia, Keith and Jane lived in London, Ontario before finally settling in Windsor. Five years ago, Michael and Patricia moved to Lethbridge to be near daughter Jane.
Michael and Patricia lead a happy, satisfying life. And now they’re together again.
I’d like to thank the St. Therese Villa staff and caregivers in 2E for their loving care and friendship to Dad and his caregivers who helped him in Windsor.
At Michael’s request, he will be remembered privately by his family and friends. If desired, donations to a charity of one’s choice are appreciated.
