WAMBOLDT, Reginald

1950-2022

Reginald Leland Wamboldt, 72, passed away on July 5th, 2022, at Chinook Regional Hospital, surrounded by loved ones after a brief battle with cancer. He is survived by the mother of his children Diana (Pittman) Melnyk of Red Deer, their three children, Christina Wamboldt, Austin Wamboldt, Alisha (Riley) Edwards and three granddaughters. He also shared many years and memories with his former spouse Dolores Leah Brown, and her two daughters, Amedee and Madeleine Waters.

Reg was born in Montreal and grew up in St Lambert, Quebec with parents Reginald and Edna Wamboldt and his younger siblings Kathleen and Danny. He was predeceased by his Mother when he was 14, his Dad and brother more recently.

Right after graduating he went to work answering telephones on the old Canadian stock exchange. Working as a clerk and later as a floor trader and bond trader, he spent 9 years attending night classes to earn a commerce degree from Concordia University. He worked on the Vancouver and Montreal stock exchanges before relocating to Alberta and working on the Alberta Stock Exchange floor in 1987. After leaving the Calgary stock exchange he continued his career in finance working his way up to a VP at TD Waterhouse. He also began investing in real estate, where he was committed to providing tenants with a safe and comfortable home.

He was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1981, and though eventually became inactive, he considered himself “LDS in his heart” until the end.

Reg loved cycling, hiking and mountain locations, however his favourite place to be was Montana. He spent many summers in Montana at Blaine and Echo Lake with his family. He had a love for Canadian art and enjoyed adding to his collection over the years. Luxury and unique cars were of special interest, and he enjoyed car shows and sports cars.

Reg loved life and was a pillar of strength and support for those around him. He was a devoted and caring father and loved his granddaughters. He was a character of his own and will be dearly missed by many. We wish he could have stayed with us longer, but we know he lives on in our hearts, until we meet again.

A memorial service for Reg will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 2410 – 28th Street S (Centennial Park Ward) in Lethbridge, AB, on August 6th at 11:00 AM.
