Dorothy Wauters

1931 – 2022

Mrs. Dorothy Wauters (née Morton) of Lethbridge County, wife of the late Mr. Ettienne “H” Wauters, passed away on her farm of 68 years on Friday, August 19, 2022 at the age of 91.

Dorothy was born on her parents’ farm in the Crystal Lake area on July 24, 1931 to Allan and Ivy Morton. As her father used to say, she was born in the raspberry patch. She received her education at Crystal Lake and Hardieville Schools. She attended Garbutt Business College and then found employment with Bodard Adjustment Bureau where she remained until she married H on April 19, 1954 and lived on their farm until her passing. She helped with the Sunnyside Area history book and enjoyed gardening, reading and needle work.

She is survived by her children Joan (Warren), Jim, Donna (Jed), Christine (Art), Robert (Cynthia) and Patricia (Murray), grandchildren Pamela, Melanie, Amanda, Hope and Noah, great grandchildren Desi, Mason, Brennah, Isabelle, Hunter and Gage, sister Reta (George), brothers and sisters-in-law Eugene (Virgina), Terry (Judy) and Lorraine (George), cousins in England and Scotland and their families. She was predeceased by her brother Ron (Jean), brother-in-law Jerrald and nephew Gregory.

The family is grateful to Patricia who made it possible for her to live the last years of her life on the farm.

She taught us you didn’t need to have it all to have it all. While her life wasn’t always easy she would say she had a good life. Her generosity was not for display but everywhere you looked. She was kind, patient, a hard worker and always there for her family. She will be sadly missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at ST. AUGUSTINE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 411, 11 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta with Reverend Steve Bateman, officiating.
