SIMONS

DONALD “DON” NORMAN SIMONS passed away peacefully with his wife and son by his side at the Chinook Regional Hospital Friday, September 9, 2022 at 73 years of age.

Don was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, March 14, 1949 to Ron and Hannah Simons. He grew up at the farm at Neidpath.

Don married Lynda Rolston in 1968 and together they moved to Alberta in 1969. He loved his new home and became a proud Albertan. Don modelled hard work and honesty for his children, Tom and Michelle. He lived life by his rules and on his terms, and made no apology for any feathers he may have ruffled along the way. It speaks to his character which was solidly built on integrity sprinkled with a dash of rye humour.

His dream was to raise cattle and after working 20 years in the oil patch he realized his dream and bought a farm by Rimbey. His happiest days were on that cattle farm. Don loved to fish and went on several fishing trips with his son Tom. Camping was another favourite pastime.

Once Don retired from farming, he owned several motorcycles. Together he and Lynda went to Arizona for the winters where he could ride his Harley as much as he liked. They also made a trip to Sturgess together.

Don was predeceased by his parents, Ron and Hannah Simons and baby brother Keith in 1953. He is survived by his wife Lynda, son Tom, daughter Michelle, sister Dianne and brother Jim (Barb), five grandchildren, Jessica, Conor, Ryan, Grace and Cole.

A Celebration of Don’s life will be held at Rimbey on Saturday, September 24, 2022. Don will be missed by his family and friends.
