Vera Bohac passed away unexpectedly but quietly in her home on November 27, 2022, at the age of 86. She was born in Libochovice, Czech Republic. Vera was the loving mother of Veronika Bohac-Clarke of Calgary and Lucie Bohac (Andrew Collins) of Ottawa, and beloved Babi of Ema, Gabi, Nick and Max. Dear sister of Miloslav Beneš of Prague, Czech Republic. She is predeceased by her husband, Jiri “George” Bohac and later Ernst Rohrbach. Vera lived a full life, coming to Canada with Jiri and daughters, to settle in Guelph, Ontario, before moving to Lethbridge, Alberta, and working at the Animal Diseases Research Institute (West) in the Old Man River bottom. She and George returned to Guelph in 1986 where she continued to work for the federal laboratory. Vera spent her working career as a laboratory technician, in veterinary diagnostics.
Vera was well known for her amazing culinary delights, and for her love of music and dancing. She volunteered for the Lethbridge Symphony Ladies’ Auxiliary. She loved painting in watercolours, and gardening. Her personality filled the room wherever she went. She was adventurous and active until the pandemic. She will be dearly missed.
A celebration of her life will be held in early spring to allow for the family to connect with friends near and far.
