Alfred Henry (Bunny) Jr. Standing Alone Sii-Pai-Nt-Skii Night Singer 1962-2023. It is with deep sorrow the family announces the passing of Alfred (Bunny) at Lethbridge, Alberta on Sunday February 5th at 60 years of age. Alfred JR (Bunny) was born at the Blood Indian Hospital in Cardston Alberta on Easter Sunday, April 22, 1962 to Alfred Sr and Lily Standing Alone. Alfred (Bunny) Jr grew up Ranching and Farming along with his siblings, sister Dale Marie and Brother, Ron, at the 22 Ranch in Old Agency on the North end of the Blood Indian Reserve, Alberta.
Bunny received his early education at St. Paul’s Indian Day School, Cardston Elementary, F.P Walshe High School, Lethbridge Collegiate Institute (LCI). Bunny pursued his post-Secondary education at the Navajo Community College (NCC), now presently the Dene College, Tsaile, Arizona on a full Rodeo Scholarship. Bunny furthered his education at the Lethbridge Community College and studied Business Administration.
Throughout his younger years, Bunny enjoyed all sports, and proven to be an exceptional hockey player and played with the Kainai Chiefs. Bunny also excelled in other sports such as Volleyball, Badminton, Shinney hockey, Golf, Skiing, and enjoyed fishing. Throughout his life, Bunny had a great passion for Rodeo, and it was his dream to become the best in this profession. During the 1960’s he entered in his first Rodeo, Boys Steer Riding, and shown to have great promise in the sport. Bunny Attended many Rodeo Schools such as Monty (Hawkeye) Henson, Mesquite, Texas, Todd Buffalo Ranches, Jim Gladstone, J & L Stables, and other too numerous to mention. Bunny at the tender age of 14 won his first rodeo Saddle Bronc championship at Bow Island (Chinook Rodeo). He also went on to win the High Point at Alberta High School Rodeo. The High Point award was 10 days at the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in Oklahoma City. One of his Rodeo highlights was competing in the Saddle Bronc, and he made an Arena record of an 85-point ride in Stetler. He also won the Championship Saddle Bronc at the Great Navajo Nation Fair, Window Rock Arizona. Bunny also rode at the Calgary Stampede in the Novice Saddle Bronc on two occasions.
Alfred (Bunny) Jr will be greatly missed by his loving father, Alfred Sr who was his care giver for the past 15 years. Bunny be greatly missed by his sons; Cody Lane Red Crow and Darcy (Lindi Shade) Soop and the late Ricky Standing Alone. His grandchildren, Jayden Standing Alone, Rylan Day Chief, Everett Soop, Acacia Soop, Raeven Tripp, Mackenzie and Maddison Red Crow. Great Grandchildren, Ricky and Lily Standing Alone and Renesmee Soop. Bunny is survived by his brother, Ron (Wendy) Standing Alone, sister Dale Marie (Girly) Wagner. Nephew and Nieces Chelsea (Vernon) Grant, Rona Buffalo, Jera Dee Wagner, Kam Standing Alone, Austin Standing Alone, R.J. Marcus Standing alone, Brooklyn Standing Alone. We would like to Thank our family and friends for their love, prayer, and support. We would like to send Many Thanks to Fort Macleod Dialysis team for the care given to Bunny, Blood Tribe Department of Health and Medical Transportation, and his physician, Dr. Cunningham. Words cannot express the comfort and love felt by all during this difficult time.
Alfred (Bunny) Standing Alone Celebration of Life (Wake Service) will be held at 7:00 – 11:00 pm on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at the Old Agency Community Hall, Blood Indian Reserve, Alberta with Anglican Archdeacon, Jacqui Durand officiating. The Funeral Service will be on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 11:00 am in the Old Agency Community Hall.
Interment at One Spot Cemetery, feast to follow after burial at Old Agency Hall, Blood Indian Reserve.
