JANUS, Gudrun

Posted: March 10th, 2023 JANUS, Gudrun Dec. 5 1944 – March 3 2023 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother at her home on Friday, March 3. Left to remember her are her children Markus (Tracey), Matthias (Anna), Stefanie, and Sandra (Scott), and grandchildren Cole, Chase, Quentin, Ben, and Wesley. She is also survived by her brother, Klaus Schurmann. Gudrun and her family immigrated to Canada in 1982, first settling in Lethbridge. For forty years she was an active member of the community, known for her kindness and generosity. She made many friends over the years as she was always ready to extend a helping hand. Her door was always open, and her kitchen was always brimming with treats for visitors. Gudrun was a woman who embraced acting in the service of others. She was the heart and soul of the German Canadian Club kitchen which she ran for over 20 years. During that time she maintained a full time position, most recently working at Edith Cavell Care Centre. For those who knew her well, her candour and forthrightness will be missed. Godspeed, Gudrun.
