HALL, Michael
Posted: May 9th, 2023 Michael David Stuart Hall It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Michael David Stuart Hall of Raymond, Alberta on the 5th of May at the age of 82 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Reiko; children: Sallie (Blaine Wiese), Jennifer, Leah (Michael Campbell), Lonni (David Hatch) & Christina (Steven Campbell); grandchildren: Jason (Amy), Melissa (Sean), Jonathan (Teila), Kristina (Christopher -Fiancé), Taeler (Zack), Dailyn (Max), Ashtyn, Chandler, Aislee, Danna, Sydney, Phoebe, John, Gavin, William, Lynnaea, Penny & Lincoln; great grandchildren: Parker, Riley, Lyra, Colton, Liam, Benjamin, Lillee, Aria and Mila; brothers, Stuart, Christopher and Patrick; sisters, Lisa and Vanessa; as well as numerous relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his most beloved son, David; and his parents: Douglas Hall & Betty Wilshaw.
Michael had many talents and was able to use those talents in all the positions/fields of employment he was involved in. He served in the British Royal Navy, where he then used the skills he learned and was able to immigrate to Canada as an electrician. He also worked as a mechanic for Atco Canada.
Another talent Michael possessed and also passed down to his children, was in the field of music. His baritone voice was hard to miss in any church choir he was involved with. This gift of music is and will always be, one of the most cherished gifts he blessed his daughters with.
Michael’s passion and obvious calling came a little later in life. It was in the field of arts as a graphic illustrator. Michael had always been an incredible artist. He took his love for drawing and incorporated it with the use of computers. He attended SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) where he graduated with honors in Graphical Design. Perhaps one of the assignments/contracts he was most proud of was his design for the “Ice Explorer Ice Coaches” used at the glaciers in Jasper National Park. He shared his pride for this accomplishment during one of his last vacations in the spring of 2022 where he was able to board the Ice Coach one last time.
In his spare time you could always find Michael reading. Whether it was fiction or non-fiction, Michael’s passion and love for reading was widely known by anyone close to him. His love and talents in art, reading and music was passed to his children and is now being passed to his grandchildren.
Michael’s love for his family was forever present, and was miraculously expressed personally to all that surrounded him until his very last breath. His family is comforted by their faith in the blessing of eternal families. When he crossed the veil he crossed into the arms of his son David, whom Michael had been waiting painfully for over 55 years to embrace again.
Michael will be missed beyond words.
A graveside service will be held at Temple Hill Cemetery in Raymond, Alberta on Wednesday, May 9th at 10:00am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Michael Hall’s name to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
The family wishes to send a special thank-you to Dr. Steed and to all of the staff at the Good Samaritan Senior Center and the staff at Raymond Health Center for their care and compassion.
