Logan was born in Taber on August 13, 1949. He was raised on the family farm in Fincastle where he learned to value hard work. After high school, he served a mission in Anaheim, California for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which he always said was a pivotal time in his life. Logan obtained his private pilot’s license and also attended Ricks College and Brigham Young University. Following university, he moved back to Canada and went into the irrigation and sprinkler business with his brother Craig and later his brother-in-law Ron. He met his wife Jane in Medicine Hat, where they spent the early years of their marriage and which they often looked back on with fondness. In 1980 he moved with his young family to Barnwell where they have lived ever since. Logan bought his first piece of farm land in the late 80’s in the Taber area and returned to his love of farming. His greatest joy in his later years, besides his family, was his ranch in the Cypress Hills. Logan left a legacy of hard work, perseverance, love for his family and his faith. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, especially his wife, children and grandchildren.

2 Condolences for “PORTER, Logan”

  1. Douglas Wechsler says:

So sorry to hear about Logan’s passing. Elder Porter baptized me as he served as a missionary in Anaheim, California. I was but 16 years of age when he baptized me at the Anaheim Stake Center. I remember that he was a hard worker and had the spiritual insight in helping me receive parental permission to be able to be baptized.

He was an example of faith and love of the Savior.

  2. Dennis Douglas and Carol Douglas says:
