JOBE DENNIS NEVILLE JOBE, beloved husband of Sharon Jobe and proud father to Trevor and Stacey, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the age of 82 years.
Besides his loving wife Sharon of almost 58 years, Dennis is survived by his two children, Trevor (Sandra) of Anchorage, Alaska, and Stacey (Christine) of Calgary, AB; and siblings Allan of Cranbrook, BC, and Marylou (Delbert) Fischl of Vulcan AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Major retired Dennis Jobe was born on January 13, 1941 in Marysville, BC to Robert and Angella Jobe. He spent the better part of his youth in the Kimberly area and left in 1956 to enlist in the Canadian Army. Dennis became a Soldier Apprentice and graduated from the program to become a skilled Artillery Surveyor. His early days in Picton were spent playing Regimental Basketball/Hockey/Baseball/Broomball; sports were a lifelong passion which he passed on to his children. Dennis was particularly proud of having served three Tours of Duty with NATO in Germany. His first tour was in early 1960’s, then with the SSM Battery in the late 1960s, and 1 RCHA 1977-1980. Dennis was also with 3 RCHA Shilo 1972-77 , he was given a promotion in the Regiment to MWO in 1973 at the time he was the youngest MWO in the Army ; his final years were served with 20th Field Battery as the CO in Lethbridge.
He and Sharon retired in Lethbridge, where Dennis took his leadership skills to owning and operating businesses. He was proud to work with the City of Lethbridge (Emergency Services), and consult in Mexico with an Alberta pipeline company. He was a proud member of the Lethbridge Military Museum, LUSI, and a 65-year member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Dennis also enjoyed scouting for the WHL (Calgary Wranglers and Moose Jaw Warriors), as he was a strong supporter of junior hockey and women in sports. Dennis enjoyed working in his yard and became an expert gardener in his retirement.
“Dennis of legendary characters, the rough and tumble toughness of John Wayne combined with the rogue charm of Clark Gable, but above all, in his retirement, the graciousness of his own deep rooted kindness to help others…..” Gloria Stowell
A Celebration of Life will be held at the LETHBRIDGE ARMOURY, 337 Stubb Ross Road, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, June 23rd, 2023 from 13:30 hrs to 16:00 hrs.

One Condolence for “JOBE, Dennis”

  1. LCol ( ret) Randy Stowell says:

I was invited by the family to speak of Dennis at the Celebration of Life. This was a tough event. Not many RMC graduates meet a WO on their first Regimental posting and speak at their memorial 52 years later. The years in between built a great friendship. Dennis made me a much better officer than I really was.
