Posted: July 8th, 2023 BRIAN BALDERSON 1952 – 2023 Brian Balderson of Lethbridge passed away peacefully at Chinook Regional Hospital in the early morning hours on July 4th following a 3-month battle with cancer.
Brian is survived by his loving Mother Doreen; his two brothers, Lloyd (Mary-Lynne) and Ron; his son Randal Heggie and three grandchildren; his nephew Stephen and his niece Michelle. He is also survived by his Aunt Winona, his Aunt Lorraine and numerous cousins.
He was predeceased by his Father, Forrest (Frosty) in 2009.
Brian was born in Edmonton and grew up on the family farm north of Magrath. Not long after graduating high school, he was drawn in by the big city lights of Vancouver, which became his home and happy place for the next 45 plus years. Soon after he arrived there, he acquired his class 1 license and embarked on a lifelong career of driving. First with Vancouver transit driving city buses, and then driving oil tanker trucks before spending his last 20 years driving semi’s for Canada Post. He was recognized many times over the years with Safe Driving Awards. Brian enjoyed life and travel and he treasured all of his friendships old and new. Brian retired in 2017 and returned to his roots in Southern Alberta to be near his family. In his own words while in the hospital: “I’ve had a good life.”
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Monday, July 10, 2023, at MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY, 1210, Scenic Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta.
