BAJNOCZI, Ida
Posted: July 18th, 2023 BAJNOCZI IDA ROSE BAJNOCZI, 60, of Comox, BC, passed away June 24, 2023, in Comox Valley Hospice in Courtney, BC. She was born September 17, 1962 in Lethbridge, AB to Nelson and Gertie Erman.
She is survived by her mother Gertrud Erman of Lethbridge, AB; her sister Shelley Musselman (Don Musselman) (Bonnyville, AB); her daughter Jennifer Walker (Austin Walker) (Comox, BC); her birth daughter Alison Burns (Nanaimo, BC); and her step-children Stephanie Bajnoczi-Scroggie (Mark Mosley) (Lethbridge, AB) and Daniel Bajnoczi (Kristan Flohr) (Lethbridge, AB); as well as eight step-grandchildren: William, Jordan, Mackenzie, Satariah, Presley, Tayven, Ravenna, Bridget; and niece and nephew Breanne Jensen and Alex Erman.
She was predeceased by her father Nelson Erman; and sister Bonnie Erman.
Ida was born in Lethbridge, AB and was raised in the towns of Vauxhall, AB, Enchant, AB, Taber, AB and Lethbridge, AB where she had her first daughter. She attended school in Coaldale, AB. After school, she worked for Lilydale followed by Alberta Meat Market for many years. This started her career in the meat industry. She then transferred to Brooks, AB with her previous husband where she had her second daughter and grew her career at Lakeside, later returning to school to become a Federal Meat Inspector. Following a divorce in 2001, Ida took a transfer to Bouvry Ltd. in Fort Macleod, AB where she spent the remainder of her career. Ida was a dedicated, hard-working woman for CFIA for 28 years as a meat inspector prior to her forced retirement in 2015. Her career was of utmost importance to her throughout her life.
In 2015, Ida was diagnosed with stage 4 Glioblastoma Brain Cancer and had her first tumor removed. She was given a short life expectancy and underwent radiation and chemotherapy. In 2020, a second tumor removal had undergone along with chemotherapy. After two tumor removals, a year of radiation and years of chemotherapy, she exceeded all expectations. In May of 2023, the news of inoperable tumor growth struck, ending her battle on June 24, 2023. Throughout her eight years of battle, she showed her strength and courage to keep fighting.
She was known to be outgoing, artistic, adventure-seeking, and spontaneous. She loved golfing, camping, and being with friends and family. She loved her vacations to Mexico with family and friends as well as her lime tequila margaritas. Her unique, one-of-a-kind humor and the ability to come up with a dirty pun at the drop of a hat is a trait she held onto till the very end.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 St. South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 11:00 am. Reception to follow at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
