JONES, Allan

ALLAN LLOYD JONES 1949 – 2023 Dearly beloved husband to Lynn Jones of Wrentham passed away peacefully on July 13 at St. Michael’s Health Centre in Lethbridge. He is survived by, son Michael (Sandra), daughter Jennifer (Cory) and son Stephen (Jenna, Wyler, Dallin); and three grandchildren Dylan, Hayley and Bryanne; Brother Warren (MaryLee) of Edmonton and sister Laura of Lethbridge; He was predeceased by his mother Marjorie and father John Lloyd of Wrentham.
Born and raised on the family farm west of Wrentham, Allan was the oldest of Marjorie and Lloyd Jones. Destined to be a farmer, he was schooled in Wrentham, Raymond and attended LCC. He returned to the farm and married his high school sweetheart Lynn Williams of Raymond. Together they raised a family and expanded the farm. Allan was very active in the community and chaired many boards around the area serving long tenures with Sunshine Seed Plant, Ridge Reservoir Water Association, Triple ‘W’ Gas Co Op, Wrentham Rec Board and Southern Alberta Rifleman’s Association. He was an avid shooter of pistol, rifle and shotgun and won high overall in the A class last year at New Dayton Rod & Gun Club. He was also the 3rd overall shooter which is impressive considering he was the oldest active shooter. Allan collected old tractors and often drove us wild by leaving them in various states of repair in random locations around the yard. He loved travelling with Lynn when possible. Whether a drive in his Challenger to Fort Benton or Whitefish or on a plane to Phoenix or Mexico in the winter. But at heart he was farmer before all else. He was completely devoted to every aspect of it. He loved farming with his sons and seeing the farm pass on to another generation. He was a very active part of our farm and it will be difficult not having him there to help.
A private family funeral will take place at MARTIN BROTHERS FUNERAL CHAPELS, 610 – 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta. With a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Canadian Cancer Society or New Dayton Gun Club (e-transfer newdaytongunclub@gmail.com) Cremation has been entrusted to Martin Brothers Riverview Chapel.

    Dear Lynn and family,
We were so very sorry to hear of Alan’s passing. We have been talking lots lately of all the good times we shared with both of you – at dances, curling bonspiels, our kids playing together, gathering for coffee etc. He was always a kind, respectful and lots of fun. He will be so missed.
We hope the wonderful memories you have will eventually fill the empty spot in your hearts.
    Sincerely,
    Dianne and Jerry Kubik
