WAGNER, Norma

NORMA FAY WAGNER November 14, 1934 – November 9, 2023 Norma passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on November 9, 2023, just shy of her 89th birthday.
Norma Fay Wagner (Johnson) was born November 14, 1934, in Innisfail, Alberta. Her grandparents were early Icelandic settlers, and as such, she grew up in the Nordic community of Markerville, AB. Norma finished high school and college in Red Deer, and then began a long career as a legal secretary – the last 20 years being with Chevron in Calgary. She married Frank Wagner in 1955 and had 2 children: Glenn and Michael. Norma divorced Frank in 1972, but this story has a happy ending – they remarried in 1985 after Frank realized he couldn’t live without her! Norma was the matriarch of the Wagner household, and always carried herself with dignity and grace. She was an unselfish woman who provided comfort and solace to others while asking for little in return. Norma loved music and was an incredibly talented pianist, and nothing brought her more joy than playing for her family. She was a very enthusiastic skier when she was younger and a hardcore Calgary Flames fan right until the end.
She is predeceased by her husband, Frank, and her elder son, Glenn. She is survived by her younger son Michael (Joanne), daughter in-law Susan Wagner, her grandchildren – Randi (Ben), Kyle (Stephanie), April, and Halla – and her great-grandchildren – Andrew and Vale.
As a family, we would like to thank the home care team, nurses, coordinators, and EMS for helping her through these last few difficult months. We would like to specifically extend our gratitude towards Jordan, Matthew, Angela, Leanne, and Beatrice.
There will be no service at this time because (in true grandmother fashion) Norma did not want us to make a fuss.
