DORINE ROBERTS 1930 – 2023 Dorine Agnes Roberts (nee Weagle) passed away peacefully at 93 years of age on November 13, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Dorine was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on April 15, 1930. At 21, she enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and was sent overseas in the first contingent of airwomen to post-war Europe. There she met the love of her life, Keith. The family often joked about how two people from Nova Scotia had to travel to France to meet and marry.
Returning to Canada, the family was posted to Ottawa, Truro, Moncton, Camp Borden, and Cold Lake. They finally settled in Lethbridge, where Dorine did Payroll for the County of Lethbridge. She missed only half a day of work in nineteen years.
Dorine was kind, level-headed, hospitable, and welcoming. There was always room for one more at the dinner table, always time for a game of crib, and no time for complaining or gossip. If anything needed to be done, she simply rolled up her sleeves and got it done. She raised four children born within 44 months while keeping an immaculate home, sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, and getting everyone to activities. She loved dancing, dogs, a good laugh, and shrewd money management. Above all else, Dorine was generous, especially with her children, and grandchildren.
Dorine was predeceased by her sweetheart Keith; infant daughter Hope; parents Dorothy and Arthur Weagle; sister Joan Hebb; and brothers Ronald and Judson Weagle.
She is survived by her brother Gerald Weagle; sister Dawna Coleman; son Danny Roberts, son Kevin Roberts (Julie); daughter Karen Hammond (Patrick), daughter Katherine Roberts; and grandchildren Georgia Hansen, Luc Roberts, Evangeline Hammond, and Noah Roberts. She is also survived by great-grandsons Hudson Roberts and Ejnar Hansen.
The family prayed that only loving hands would touch her and are grateful to Carly, Jackie and the staff at Buffalo Grace who did just that.
Friends and family are invited to a come-and-go Celebration of Life at the Hammond residence (1317 – 4th Avenue South) from 1:00 – 4:00 PM on Saturday, November 25, 2023.
