DYKSHOORN, Ronald “Ron”
Posted: December 29th, 2023 RONALD “RON” DYKSHOORN 1951 – 2023 Mr. Ron Dykshoorn of Foremost, Alberta, beloved husband of Lorinda, passed away suddenly in his home on December 22, 2023, at the age of 72 years.
Ron was born on the farm to Dirk (Dick) and Wandreina (Dena) Dykshoorn in Foremost on November 7, 1951. He called Dykshoorn Farms his home for the entirety of his life except for two winters in early adulthood that were spent living in the lower mainland with friends and cousins. Ever since he was a boy, Ron loved animals, especially his horses. Being a true cowboy at heart, he treasured the time he spent in the saddle. Ron loved his community and gave generously of his time, serving on council at Burdett Christian Reformed Church numerous times, being an integral part of Foremost Rodeo, being a school team bus driver for Foremost School, and serving on various boards in the community. Ron was a faithful friend and was well known for his kind and gentle smile that he freely gave to everyone he met. Though he never wanted to be centre of attention, he loved to visit and spend time with his friends. Ron’s love of learning never waned, and he took time to continue to educate himself, making him a rich source of wisdom and knowledge for those who would ask.
The thing Ron loved most was his family. And above all, his bride of nearly 44 years, Lorinda (nee Whittle). Married February 9, 1980, Ron and Rin lived a life surrounded by family, boasting five children and their spouses and eleven grandchildren. Though Ron experienced success in many areas, his family was his source of pride. Ron taught them the values of hard work, honesty, humility, and above all a deep and genuine faith in the saving power of the Lord.
Besides his loving wife, Lorinda, Ron is survived by his children Shellie and Jerry Wolverton, Chet and Tania Dykshoorn, Beckie and Justin Elway, Kristy and Mark Johnson, and Sam and Michelle Dykshoorn; his grandchildren, Jaida, Kayleigh, and Coehn Wolverton, Maddyson, Lucas, and Elizabeth Dykshoorn, Noah, Lucy, and Ethan Elway, and Jaden and Jax Dykshoorn; and, his sisters, Marion (Bryan) Wilde, Leona Heppler, and Wanda (Gary) Williams.
Ron was predeceased by his parents Dick and Dena (Jansen), and his infant brother Peter.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 5, 2023, at BURDETT CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH 121075 TOWNSHIP RD 82, Burdett, Alberta with Pastor Rick Roeda officiating. Ron will be laid to rest in Highfield Cemetery at a private graveside service.
Flowers are gratefully declined. Those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Village of Foremost, designated to the Foremost Firefighters Association.

I was very sad to hear about Ron’s passing. After all, he was still a youngster. I hadn’t seen Ron for a number of years, but I remember Ron as one of the genuinely nice guys. He always thought of others, and always had time for them. He will be missed by Lorinda and his family.
Lorinda & family,
Our sincere condolences to you all. We are praying you feel God’s strength and help as you process the sudden loss of Ron.

Dear Lorinda and all the Dykshoorn family. Our deepest condolences in the passing of Ron. He will be greatly missed. Love Linda and Ron Schiebelbein
While we were only in Burdett a short while, you folks became very dear to us. We remember, Lorinda, for providing meat in our refrigerator, mowing the church lawn, and helping me to get my computer to work well. I often walked on your land next to the church. Somehow, you and the rest of the people in Burdett CRC became very close to us. We love you and pray for you
