PETERSON LOIS FAIRBANKS PETERSON, beloved eternal companion of the late Clifford Junior Peterson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the Chinook Regional Hospital at 97 years old.
Lois is survived by her children: Cheri (Robert) Jenson of Utah, Rod (Diane) Peterson of Lethbridge, Barbara (Brian) Johnson of Magrath, Jeff (Karen) Peterson of Kansas and Marilyn (Orvil) Smith of Calgary. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 98 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Clifford Junior Peterson in 1994. She was also pre-deceased by her daughter Susan Romeril, her daughter-in-law Marilyn Peterson, her grandson Michael Peterson and her parents Harold and Madge Fairbanks.
Lois was born on September 7, 1926 in Raymond, Alberta. She was the second of ten children. She met her husband when they were both attending BYU and were married not long after on September 13, 1950 in the Cardston Alberta Temple. She and Cliff spent their whole lives in Lethbridge where they raised their six children.
Lois and Cliff had many close life-long friends. Lois even had weekly luncheons with friends until her last days. Her family was always the love her life and she could name and talk about every one of her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a sharp mind and a great memory until the end.
Lois served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including 15 years working at the Cardston Alberta Temple. She had many hobbies including sewing, knitting, quilting, chocolate making, and even took up clogging for a few years. She loved doing crossword puzzles out of the newspaper pretty much every day and she also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lethbridge Stake Centre, 2410 – 28 Street South, Lethbridge, with Bishop Lee Oviatt officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
Friends and relatives are invited to meet with the family at Salmon and Sons Funeral Home, 433 Stubb Ross Road, Lethbridge on Sunday, January 14 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, or at the Lethbridge Stake Centre prior to the funeral on Monday, January 15 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. The funeral will also be streamed live at www.salmonandsons.ca.
