Posted: January 12th, 2024 UMERIS ALMA UMERIS, of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Arnold Umeris, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the age of 87 years.
Alma leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Gwen Umeris, her son Ed (Corinna) Umeris, and her two grandchildren, Isabella and Ethan Umeris; her sister Olga Rallion; and brothers-in-law Fred (Gail) Umeris and Hardy Umeris; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Besides her loving husband Arnold, she was predeceased by her parents Karl and Bertha Hering; brothers-in-law Henry Rallion and George Paskuski; and sisters-in-law Wanda Paskuski and Donna Umeris.
Alma was born on September 29, 1936 in Vilkaviskis, Lithuania. In 1940, the family resettled in Germany, and then immigrated to Canada in 1949, where they settled in the Iron Springs area. She married Arnold July 11, 1964 and moved into Lethbridge.
Alma was a beloved wife, mother and grandma. She enjoyed working in her garden, devoting time to her grandchildren, and following the lives of the Royal Family. She was a kind and gentle soul who was loved by all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Olivier Ravelojaona officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. The Funeral Service will be live-streamed and may be viewed through Alma’s obituary on the Cornerstone website.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Alma’s name to the Jack Ady Cancer Centre (crhfoundation.ca) or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (heartandstroke.ca).
