 LATTA
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Carolyn Latta (nee Carnahan), on January 4, 2024 at the age of 91 years, with her loving family at her side.
Nancy was born on April 2, 1932 into a farm family in Kansas. She was half Irish, half Swedish, but 100% Kansan and 100% Canadian. Predeceased by her loving husband Bill, she will be sorely missed by her children Bill (Margaret), Linda (Barry), Leslie, and Tom (Jody). She was an exceptional grandmother to her seven grandchildren Anna (Scott), Lauren (Reid), Evan (Emily), Will (Mikayla), Emily (Mike), Madison and Kennedy plus her great grandchildren Ella, Victoria, Ivy, Lucy, Liam, Ashling and Fiadh.
She is also survived by a extended community of family and friends, including Gerry and Del Reid and Rick Guthrie.
Family gatherings were extremely important to her. Two years ago, she treated her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to a long weekend at the Banff Springs Hotel. More recently, she treated her immediate children to a long weekend at Pacific Sands Resort on the west coast of Vancouver Island.
Devoted to her husband Bill and in support of his military service and academic career, she travelled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan. All of these experiences shaped the person who was known and loved by many.
As per her wishes, there will be no service. However, there will be a small celebration of life later in the Spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s name may be made to Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids at https://www.BB4CK.org

One Condolence for “LATTA, Nancy”

  1. Yvonne Trainer says:

My deepest condolences to the family. I have fond memories of Nancy (Mrs. Latta) from the times when there were faculty parties at the Latta home, from when I used to babysit Tommy, and from visits with Leslie at the house in Lethbridge.
