SLEIGHTHOLM, Jennet “Jeannie”
Posted: April 16th, 2024 JENNET “JEANNIE” SLEIGHTHOLM April 11, 1952 – April 10, 2024 The family of Jennet “Jeannie” Anna Sleightholm said goodbye to our precious mom on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the age of 71 years.
Jeannie was born in Lethbridge, on April 11, 1952, to parents Karl and Gladys Ernst. She was the eldest of 4 girls, Theresa, Lily and Christine. She graduated from Catholic Central High School, got married, and started a family welcoming two children Dallas and Carly.
Mom had numerous jobs though out her life. She enjoyed being social and working with people, which led to many lasting friendships along the way. Her sense of humour, generosity and thoughtfulness always shone through. She was fond of nature and outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, picking mushrooms and huckleberries with family in B.C. She was a very talented baker, making beautiful cheesecakes and prize-winning huckleberry pies. Over the years, she accumulated countless recipes that she recorded by hand in her recipe books. International cuisine was her favourite and she often made delicious meals for her family to enjoy. Mom had a fun and witty spirit, and her clever sense of humor always kept us on our toes. Her ability to laugh at herself taught us not to take life too seriously.
Becoming a grandma was the highlight of Jeannie’s life. Her 4 grandchildren Caitlyn, Bradley, Liana and Matthew were her pride and joy. Mom was our family cornerstone. Her strength, perseverance and ability to see the beauty in the small things will leave a special imprint on our hearts forever.
Mom, your work here on earth is done. We will celebrate your life and carry on knowing you are resting in peace with God and his angels.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 pm, on Friday, April 19, 2024, at ST. BASIL’S ROMAN CATHOLIC PARISH, 604, 13 STREET NORTH, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Father Kevin Tumback, celebrant.
Cremation has been entrusted to Martin Brothers Riverview Chapel.
