DAVIS, Chester
Posted: June 5th, 2024 DAVIS Chester Davis, of Fort Macleod, passed away peacefully at the Fort Macleod Health Center Support Beds on Monday, May 27, 2024, at the age of 92 years. He is survived by his beloved wife Doris of 60 years, his loving daughters Julie & Karen, and his grandson Gavin. Chester was predeceased by his father G. R. Davis and his mother Eloise Davis. He attended Macleod Highschool and Mount Royal College. Following his graduation in Law at UBC, Chester returned to Fort Macleod where he practiced law for 37 years.
Chester was passionate about 19th and 20th Century history, he was an avid reader, and loved music of all kinds. He was a member of the Alpine Club of Canada for more than 50 years and enjoyed hiking and climbing in the Canadian Rockies. He coordinated many hikes for the Chinook Outdoor Club, based in Lethbridge, and was a member of the Glacier Mountaineering Club. Both Julie & Karen have fond memories of spending their summers at Alpine Club camps, hiking in the mountains in Summer and skiing in Winter.
In recent years, he enjoyed walking to the A&W where he enjoyed coffee and visits with friends. At Chester’s request, there will be no funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the Fort Macleod Handibus Society or a charity of their choice.
The family would like to thank the neighbours for many acts of kindness and support over the years. Also, many thanks to Dr. Beekman, and the compassionate nursing staff at the Health Center Community Support beds.
