BART HRIBAR 1938 – 2024 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bart Hribar on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Coaldale Long Term Care Facility following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Bart was born on November 18, 1938, in Zlato Polje, Slovenia, to Jernej and Antonija Hribar. After being displaced from their farm in World War II, Bart and his family lived in a camp in Austria before immigrating to Canada in 1949 to work on a beet farm. After graduating high school, Bart started his career in banking.
Bart had a distinguished career at the Bank of Nova Scotia, where he worked for 35 years across four different provinces where his jovial nature endeared him to his customers. In 1978, he moved to Lethbridge, where he remained until his passing.
Bart is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Betty Hribar, and his cherished children: Michelle Fiedler (Tony Fiedler), Darren Hribar (Nicole Merrifield), and Paul Hribar (Pi Hribar). He was a proud grandfather to Cole Fiedler, Wyatt Fiedler, Paige Hribar, Sarah Hribar, Megan Hribar, Nicolas Hribar, Danielle Hribar, and Pierce Hribar. Bart is also survived by his sister, Ann Dimnik.
He was predeceased by his siblings Stanley Hribar, John Hribar, and Antonija Ambrozic.
Bart’s greatest love was his family. His utmost joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also relished his many nieces, nephews, and their families and cherished their visits and support.
Bart was passionate about his red Camaro convertible, investing, golfing, football, and traveling, especially to Hawaii. Despite not enjoying books in his early life, Bart developed a love of reading novels in his retirement. In his leisure time, he also enjoyed playing solitaire and hearts on his iPad.
Bart will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
