It is with heavy hearts that the family of Burnell Bennett announce his passing in Raymond on Friday, July 19, 2024 at the age of 83 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the church prior to the funeral service on Saturday, July 27, 2024 between 9:30 A.M. and 10:40 A.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Taber Stake Centre, 4709 – 50 Avenue, Taber on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. Burial to follow at the Taber Memorial Garden. Condolences may be forwarded by visiting our website at www.southlandfuneral.com.
Burnell is survived by his son Darren (Alison) Bennett of Lethbridge and their children Lauren (Matt) Mitten (their daughters Jocelynne and Callie), Taya Bennett and Justin Bennett; son Daryl Bennett of Taber and his children Natalie (Tom) Doucette (their children Noah and Brielle), Alyssa Bennett (Matt Boehme), Shantelle Bennett and John Bennett; daughter Vickie (Robert) Brown of Raymond and their children Ryan (Emily) Brown (their children Lucy and Teddy), Megan (Brent) Bester (their children Aurora and Apollo), Amanda (Austin) Toth (their children Bane and Bastian) and Kaden Brown.  He is also survived by his sister Beth Wendorff of Raymond.
He was predeceased by his first wife LaRee Bennett; parents Cliff and Edna Bennett and  sister Coral Pratt.
He was born on November 2, 1940, at the Galt Hospital in Lethbridge. Burnell grew up on the family farm in the Taber area and continued farming there until moving to Ridgeview Lodge in Raymond three years ago to be closer to family.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family members, building and repairing farm equipment and working with young men in the Scouting program.  Burnell also enjoyed working with family history records and going on vacations with family members and close friends. He enjoyed playing on, and coaching, various sport teams including fastball, basketball, volleyball and badminton.
Burnell was a faithful, active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of which he had a firm testimony and found enjoyment reading the scriptures.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Burnell’s name may be made directly to a charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to extend sincere heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors at the Raymond Hospital who provided excellent care to make him as comfortable as possible during his stay there.
