Len Danforth
1941 – 2024
Leonard William Danforth, beloved husband of Karen Danforth, passed away in Lethbridge on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at the age of 83 years following a brief illness.

He leaves behind his loving wife Karen, his son and daughter-in-law Tag and Colleen Danforth of Kingston, Ontario and their children Cleo Danforth (Jasvinder Singh Kundi) and Tess Danforth (Emerson Howitt); his daughter and son-in-law Karlen and Paul McDonald of Lethbridge and their children Taylor McDonald (Kirt McDonald) and Blake McDonald; and his great grandson Brooks McDonald. Len is also survived by his sister Leona Shepherd of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Jean and Len Danforth, his sisters Phyllis (Al) Neison and Eleanor (Chris) Goss and brother-in-law Don Shepherd.
Len was born in Lethbridge in 1941 and lived his life in Southern Alberta. It was here that he met his future wife, Karen Valarie Prestwich. Married for sixty three years, they shared a full life of family, work and play. They enjoyed many trips to Europe, the Caribbean and many happy years in Mesa, Arizona.
Len was a farmer, a builder and a businessman. To his family, he taught the importance of education, graduating with distinction from the Business Administration program at Lethbridge Community College. As a farmer and a builder, he was hardworking, fair and generous. His many friends knew him as a man quick to laugh with a quiet sense of humor who enjoyed a hand of cards, travelling with Karen and the community of friends and family. If you needed something fixed, Len was always happy to lend his expertise.
“Our family celebrates a great husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. While we will miss him deeply and daily, we are also filled with warmth and gratitude for the years we shared and the many ways he built for us a life of love, laughter and kindness. None of us could ask for more.”
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Len’s name may be made directly to a charity of one’s choice.
