HNATIUK It is with great sadness the family of VIVIAN GLENNICE HNATIUK, 89, of Lethbridge, AB, announce she passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 23, 2024.
Vivian was born on October 23, 1934 to Henry & Nola Bjerke in Pelly, SK. The family later moved to Vancouver, BC. After graduation, Vivian moved to Lethbridge, AB to live with her aunt, Mary Brown. There she met a dashing young Ukrainian farmer, William (Bill) Hnatiuk and fell immediately in love. They were married in November of 1952. They started their early life together, farming and eventually moved their family into the city.
In her early years she stayed home and raised four children then went on to later work for Sears Canada. She remained there long enough to be among the few Canadians that received a pension from Sears. After retirement she worked as a public servant in the form of a census enumerator for the City of Lethbridge and the Province of Alberta. Vivian was a very talented seamstress and almost every member of her immediate and extended family possesses one of her cherished hand crocheted throws. She enjoyed boating, fishing and camping and was particularly adept at contributing to home renos. In her free time, she spent countless hours volunteering at the Lethbridge Senior Centre teaching computer classes. She remained computer savvy up until her time of passing.
Vivian was survived by her children Debra (Jim), Charmaine (Dan), Bill (Sharon) & Sydney (Tim). She was grandmother to Michael (Lisa), Kimberlee (Jeremy), Kelsey (Darren), Austin (Ashley), Sam, Megan & Tyler. She was great-grandmother to Reeve, Landyn, Beckham & Aiden as well as numerous nieces & nephews. She is also survived by her brother Floyd (Bonnie).
Vivian is predeceased by her spouse, Bill Sr., her parents Henry & Nola, sister Wilona, grandson Tyler and son-in-law Jim.
Vivian will be greatly missed and remain forever in our hearts.
There will be a private family service at a later date.
