WILSON, David Arthur December 28, 1962 – July 3, 2024 David Wilson, beloved husband of Angela Wilson of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the age of 61 years.
David was born in Calgary, AB, on December 28, 1962, and raised in Lethbridge, AB, with his three siblings, Sharon, Doug, and John.
In February 1992, David married his wife Angela, and the two raised son Erik, born in 1992, and daughter Courtney, born in 1995.
David attended both the University of Lethbridge and the University of Calgary and became a Certified Public Accountant.
With his education in finance and economics, David became a savvy and accomplished businessman in the aviation and oil and gas industries. Before David attended University and started his career as a CPA, he was a big movie buff. He worked as a manager at a local movie theatre and helped run an outdoor drive-in movie theatre.
Outside of his career, David was an active community member – by volunteering for his kid’s elementary school council, acting as a chaperon for several school band tours with his daughter Courtney, and working with the Shaganappi Community Association Council. Upon meeting his wife Angela, David loved to cook, spending much his free time experimenting in the kitchen and watching the Food Network on television. In conjunction with his cooking, David also enjoyed gardening and grew his own ingredients in the family’s backyard – he used his harvest to help create his yummy food creations.
Travelling, especially cruising, was a big passion for David. He and his family took many trips together – including multiple cruises through the Mediterranean, Europe, Alaska, Caribbean, and the Canadian Maritimes; to name a few, and took trips to Hawaii and Mexico to escape the cold Calgarian winters. During his travels, David notably fell in love with Spain, visiting the country with family several times – with the British Isles being a close second favourite. David was also very passionate about music, so during his travels, he would attend various concerts with his family. Notable concerts would be the Rolling Stones in Calgary, The Police in Edmonton, AB; U2 in Barcelona, Spain; Elton John in Vancouver, BC; and many more. David and his wife Angela also went through the trouble of restoring his childhood alto saxophone, which was passed on to their daughter Courtney, who used to play in her school concert band for several years.
David also loved sports! He played baseball and coached his kid’s baseball and soccer teams. He showed his love of sports by amassing a large collection of sports jerseys, from baseballs, hockey and football.
David was a wonderful and accomplished person and will be deeply missed by his wife Angela, son Erik, and daughter Courtney.
