IWAASA, Rod
Posted: August 6th, 2024Rodney Iwaasa Feb. 17 ,1953 – Aug. 1, 2024 It is with great sadness that the family of Rodney Iwaasa announce his passing from kidney related issues.
Rodney was born on February 17, 1953 to Jeaune and Miiko Iwaasa in Raymond Alberta and lived most of his life in the Lethbridge area. As the eldest of 7 siblings, he forged his own path in life creating his own community of friends and family.
Rodney will be dearly miss by his family, including his wife Debbie (Kupecz) Iwaasa; his children Jean, Cliff, Greg, Nicole, Brett, numerous “adopted” children, as well as several grandchildren. His love and pride for his family was always evident by his numerous photos and video recordings of their many achievements. Rod’s extended family consisted of those who could appreciate his honesty and sense of humor. His generosity and kindness knew no bounds when it came to those in his circle. To truly know Rodney was to love and respect the man of such character.
Rodney was an active fisherman who loved taking his friends and family to the lake on his boat. He also loved entertaining his company with stories, laughter, and food (his specialty being his famous baked spaghetti). The many facets of Rodneys life included 35 years at Kawneer where he had made many life long friends and companions including Wes, Rick, Ron, Jerry; many years as a coach for softball (winning several years as a national winner), and an unofficial coach of any sport his children were involved in.
As Rodney was a humble man, he requested no funeral.
Friends are welcome to meet with the family from 2:00 to 4:00pm on Tuesday August 6, 2024 at Salmon and Sons Funeral Home (433 Stubb Ross Rd S, Lethbridge)
