FERGUSON, Marjorie
Posted: August 31st, 2024 FERGUSON MARJORIE MARY-JANE FERGUSON, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024 in Calgary, at the age of 91 years.
She was born in Lethbridge on February 5, 1933 and lived a life committed to her family and community. She grew up on a farm in the eight-mile lake district where she and her family worked hard and always welcomed visitors with generous hospitality.
Marjorie met the love of her life Richard at a community dance, and in 1955 they were married and made their home at his family farm in Barnwell. In 1960 they moved to Lethbridge and in their 60 years together raised two children, John (Tracy) Ferguson and Joanne (Brian) Baillie. Her proudest accomplishments were her family and her cherished grandchildren, Richard Ferguson, Bonnie (Gordon) Heine, Hugh Baillie, and Alexandra Baillie, who were the lights of her life.
Over the years Marj enjoyed working at administrative jobs but her real interest was in her hobbies. She found great joy in gardening, sewing and refinishing furniture and was a truly gifted artist. She spent countless hours in her back yard tending to her beautiful garden. Her Slovak cooking was a family favourite, making dinner at her house a real treat.
Marj was a strong believer in her church and was a devoted volunteer. She and Richard belonged to a variety of clubs and spent many fun weekends socializing with friends and family and travelled far and wide in their retirement years.
Marjorie will be remembered as a gentle soul who touched the lives of many with her kindness and compassion.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Richard Ferguson, parents John and Martha Kurutz, brother John Kurutz and sister-in-law Mable, sister Angeline Kurutz and daughter-in-law Lesley Ferguson.
Her family would especially like to thank Loretta Craddock, her niece, for all her love and support during our mother’s final years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825-32 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta.
