Posted: May 9th, 2025 CORNELIUS “COREY” PAULS 1928 ~ 2025 Cornelius “Corey” Pauls, surrounded by the love of his family, was ushered peacefully to be with his Lord and Saviour on May 3, 2025, at the age of 96 years.
Born to Abram and Katherina Pauls, Corey’s younger days were spent enduring the hardships of rural life on the family farm near Grassy Lake. In 1950, Corey met Anne (nee Boschman), and they married in 1951. The young couple purchased the family farm where they raised their family. Corey also drove his school bus for Hudson School and Kinniburgh School and was recognized for 23 years of service during this time. In 1974, Corey and Anne moved to Taber. Then, in 1982, they settled in Lethbridge, enjoying their retirement years.
Together Corey and Anne created wonderful memories, many with family and friends. They travelled throughout Canada and the United States spending many of their winters in Arizona. Being part of a musical family, he enjoyed playing piano, violin, banjo and mandolin. Corey was an avid fisherman, golfer, and skier. He was able to live independently until age 95. In his later years he enjoyed doing Word Searches, building jigsaw puzzles and going for coffee.
Corey is lovingly remembered by Rod (Dianne) Pauls, Sheryl (Eric) Dyck, Arnold (Shauna) Pauls; 5 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; his siblings and their spouses, David (Iris) Pauls, Ann Traber, Lydia (Alvin) Sawatsky, Janet Braun, sister-in-law Eva Pauls and many nieces and nephews.
Corey was predeceased by his parents; stepmother Helen; Anne, his loving wife of 64 years; brothers Abram, John, Peter; and sisters Katherine “Tina” Regehr, Margaret “Marge” Burwash and Helen “Lena” Boschman.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Corey had a great love for his family. His commitment to his faith, his gentle spirit and his kind, generous nature will be missed by those who knew him. Though we mourn his passing, we are comforted by the memories of his love, his easy laugh and the example he set for us all. We will forever hold him in our hearts.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Strank and the staff and caregivers at Extendicare Fairmont in Lethbridge. Their care and compassion were deeply appreciated.
