Posted: July 10th, 2025

ROSSMANN My dear husband and our dad, Dieter Gerhard Rossmann passed into the arms of his loving Saviour, our Lord Jesus Christ on the morning of July 3rd, 2025. Dieter was born in Ostrode, Osteruposen (East Prussia) on December 18th, 1935. He was predeceased by his parents, Elfriede and Ernst Rossmann, half siblings Guenther and Irmgard, siblings Renate and Werner. He is survived by brothers Henry (Trudy) and Horst of Edmonton, AB, wife Lilly of 54 yrs of Saskatoon, sons, Harold (Patti) Teyke of Lethbridge, AB, Fritz (Wendy) Teyke of Saskatoon, SK, Roy (Jaclyn) Teyke of Lethbridge, AB and daughter, Rita (Rod) Lawrence of Lethbridge, AB. Dieter (Opa) also leaves 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Dad’s family immigrated from Germany in 1953, landing in New Brunswick and traveling by train to Lethbridge. After 2 years in Lethbridge the family moved to Edmonton. Dieter lived in Shaughnessy, AB when he married Lilly Teyke in 1971, and they became an instant family of 6. He became stepdad to Harold, 15, Fritz 13, Roy 11 and Rita 9. He drove gravel truck and worked at Haegen Electric for many years as an automotive electrician. When computers became a household commodity in the late 70’s he jumped in with both feet and became very proficient at fixing and upgrading computers. He got a lot of joy out of computers and helping others. Dad was always renovating or building something. In 1978 he fitted parts of his home with a solar power system. Dad and Mom moved to Lethbridge in 1987 having had a home built there on Bluefox Blvd. He and Mom retired to Balfour, BC on Kootenay Lake in 1997, then out to Swan River, MB in 2009, then finally to Saskatoon, SK in 2015.
In November of 2021 Dad asked Jesus into his life and became a changed man. The power of the gospel was very real in his life. His only regret was he wished he had done it sooner. Dad struggled with mobility the last years with some ankle, knee and hip surgeries in the past few years. In January of 2025 he could no longer live at home and moved into Luther Special Care Home with Mom moving into the adjoining Luther Tower so they could remain together. Health issues came up and this past week he left his body to be joined to his Saviour and loved ones in Heaven.
Dieter/ Dad/ Opa/Uropa will be greatly missed. His smile and sense of humour will always be remembered. Enjoy Heaven Dieter/Dad, we’ll see you soon.
There will be a funeral service on Monday, July 14th at 2PM at Dad’s church, Pleasant Hill Church, 111 Whitney Ave. North, Saskatoon. For those unable to attend, a Livestream of the service will be available on Pleasant Hill Church YouTube channel.
Thank you to Luther Special Care Home for the care they gave Dad the past 6 months. In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to the Diabetes Foundation.
