KRAWCZYK, Irena

KRAWCZYK With profound sadness, the family of Irena Krawczyk announces her sudden passing at 1:50 a.m. on December 7, 2025, at the age of 83, at Tudor Manor Senior Care Facility in Okotoks, Alberta. Born on June 7, 1942, Irena lived a life defined by hard work, generosity, and deep devotion to her family and Polish community.
For more than twenty years, Irena worked in the CSR department at St. Michael’s Hospital in Lethbridge, remaining there until its closure in 1996. Her dedication, reliability, and kindness left a lasting impression on colleagues.
Alongside her husband, Stanley, Irena later opened Mr. Greenthumb Greenhouses, where together they cultivated and shared some of the most beautiful flowers enjoyed by residents and businesses throughout Lethbridge and the surrounding area. Her love of flowers extended to her own home garden, where she and her husband Stanley, spent countless joyful hours tending to plants, harvesting produce, and filling jars with homemade preserves crafted from their homegrown vegetables and fruits.
Irena’s home was always a place of welcome. She had a remarkable gift for hospitality, often opening her door to Polish newcomers and helping them settle into life in Lethbridge. Her warmth, generosity, and steady presence touched many lives.
She also cherished the outdoors. Camping, fishing, mushroom picking, and gathering wild berries were among her favourite pastimes – simple pleasures that brought her peace and connection to nature alongside Stanley.
Irena is lovingly remembered by her son Peter Krawczyk; her daughter Anne Hale; her sister Maria Lazar; her brother Victor Januszewski and his wife Lise; and her cherished granddaughter Aleksandra Krawczyk. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Stanley.
A memorial to honour Irena’s life will be held in June 2026. Details will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and Dr. Faye at Tudor Manor in Okotoks for the compassionate care they provided to Irena, and to the staff of Snodgrass Funeral Home in Okotoks/High River for their support and guidance during this difficult time.
Her family will forever remember her strength, her kindness, and the beauty she brought into the world – both through her gardens and through the way she lived her life with her husband Stanley.
