KING, Phyllis May (Wernick) May 12, 1931 to January 6, 2026 Phyllis King passed away January 6, 2026, after 94 fun-loving, creative years dedicated to family and community. Phyllis was born in Lethbridge, Alberta. She spoke fondly of her early life on the farm near Lethbridge, her parents, brother, and extended family members. She is pre-deceased by her husband George King (2016), parents Emil and Gertrude Wernick, brother Leslie M. (Phyllis) Wernick.
In 1954, Phyllis married George King in Coaldale, Alberta. George built their house, while Phyllis made a cozy home. After years raising the family and being actively involved in the community (Pythian Sisters, building parade floats and creating costumes and sets for children’s activities), she pursued a career working for Sunny South News. Upon retirement, George and Phyllis moved to Lethbridge where they were involved with the Legion and then to Sherwood Park, Alberta, where they enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by her three children, Brian (Robin) King, Connie (Robert) Harrison. and Coleen (Davis) Graham. Her seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren have been a source of great joy. The family extends deep appreciation to the residents and staff of Country Cottage who made Phyllis’ stay so warm and pleasant for almost seven years.
A private family memorial will be planned. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation or involvement with a community agency of your choice.
