LARSON, James “Jim”
Posted: February 7th, 2026 LARSON Our Dad, James Mark D Larson, (Jim) passed away February 5, 2026 at home. He leaves behind Barbara (Bernie), Jane (Don), Bud (Alyssa), Andrea, Trish (Ian), Lindsay (Buzz). He was preceded in death by the mother of his 6 children, Marilyn Anne after 32 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his younger brother Doug and his Grandmother Katherine Ann Morrow, who raised him and Doug in Spring Coulee from a very young age. Also preceded in death by his second wife Claire Bogdan.
Jim leaves behind 29 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind the children of Claire Bogdan who loved him like a father and grandfather.
Jim was truly an amazing man in very interesting ways. He was as rugged in the outdoors as Grizzly Adams, skilled in the home and kitchen as Martha Stewart, as savvy a farmer as the Jolly Green Giant. From dropping a transmission out of a tractor, to running inside to make cinnamon buns and rollup his girls hair in pink rollers, and then rush back out to the fields to make sure his corn, strawberries and tomatoes would be ready for his kids to sell out of the back of the old milk truck.
He said many times that the happiest time in his whole life was while he was raising his children. It definitely wasn’t ours….Well at least we didn’t think so at the time. We do know he instilled a work ethic in us children that would cause many parents to be jealous, and we’re finally grateful for that today.
A dedicated sports’ Dad, a willing listener to the early stages of musical instruments, a hard core field boss with lessons of life and death on a farm, a tireless, dedicated member of his church, and a hardworking spouse and caretaker.
Most would think of Jim a truly a good samaritan, often quietly showing up to do a service for friends or neighbors, never having been asked.
Jim and Marilyn had many dear friends from their original book club for a better part of their lives, as well as lifelong friends they cherished in both Raymond and Lethbridge areas. Many of which were able to give their love to Dad at the end of his days.
As we visited with Dad in very intimate and special circumstances these past few months, we cried, belly laughed and felt a special closeness that only children can have with their father.
Thanks for all you imparted on each one of us, dad. Now you can flutter away like a butterfly across the wheat fields like you promised us you would.
A private family service will be held at Spring Coulee Cemetery.
