KRONEN DONALD RICHARD KRONEN passed away peacefully at 10:05 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25th, 2026, in Cardston, Alberta, Canada, at the age of 91. Don is survived by wife Maggie, the love of his life, and three of his five beloved children from his first marriage: Janice (Mike) Kustra of Moncton, New Brunswick, Joanne (Jonathan) Mikita of Montreal, Quebec and Carolyn Kronen of Vancouver. He was predeceased by his son Donald Richard Junior (Jane, deceased) and Corinne (Wayne, deceased) Thomasen and by his grandson Matthew Alexander Kustra. He leaves behind 2 granddaughters Cecile and Crystal whom he dearly loved and 2 sweet great granddaughters, Avery and Kennedy.
The youngest of 6 children, Don was born in Montreal, Quebec on November 20th, 1934, to Nathan Kronen (Kronenberg) and to Gladys Irene Collison. He lived there in the Jewish quarters of Montreal with his three brothers Sidney, Barney and Kenney and two sisters Doreen and Keatha, now all deceased.
Don was a Design engineer for Air and Hydraulics and worked in this field most of his life. He was also a successful entrepreneur and business man, having started and run a retail pet store business and later on a Air and Hydraulic Tool sales, repairs and consulting business.
Don was a faithful member of the Church, a disciple of Christ who served in many teaching and leadership capacities for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The most important day in his life was December 27, 1980 when he was sealed for time and eternity to his beloved wife Maggie in the Seattle Temple. Although he did not serve an official mission for the Church, he was an ambassador for the Lord as a Branch President for many years in the Mons, Belgium US Service Men and French Speaking Branch. He faithfully served many years as a Temple Worker in the Seattle and Cardston Temple.
His engaging personality, his happy smile and firm handshakes touched the lives of many people. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and the joy he spread around him.
He loved hockey, playing guitar, planting flowers and travelling the world with his beloved companion, Maggie. Don lived a full life with his dear wife Maggie. After struggling with his health for the past 5 years, he is now resting in peace. Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and health care workers who tended to his needs with care and compassion at the Lee Crest Facility for the past two years.
Friends may meet the family at the Legacy Funeral Home on Sunday, March 1st, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. A Private Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 2nd with interment to follow in the Cardston Cemetery.
