HAUSERMAN, John
Posted: March 20th, 2026 John HAUSERMAN 1933 ~ 2026 John Paul Hauserman passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at the age of 92. He was born on December 3, 1933, in Lethbridge and spent his formative years on the family homestead in the Retlaw area. Although he enjoyed farming, John chose to build a career in the oil field industry. While working in southern Saskatchewan, he met Velma, who would become his wife. John and Velma shared their lives together until her passing on July 14, 2020.
John’s work took him into drilling and production within the oil field sector. Starting as a roughneck, he steadily advanced to become a tool push/rig manager. His career led him across the western provinces of Canada. The family travelled in a trailer to job sites in Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan. Once the children were of school age they located to Vauxhall. Later in his career John travelled further distances, as far north as Inuvik and east to Sable Island. After completing his time as a tool push/rig manager, John spent several years working in production as a battery operator and supervisor. He was known as a well-respected boss who set clear expectations, upheld high standards, and was always available to support employees. Many of the men who worked alongside John would often visit, sharing stories and reminiscing about their time together.
John always cherished his upbringing on the farm and maintained his love for the land throughout his life. Whenever he was home and in retirement, he enjoyed helping friends with seeding, cultivating and harvesting. He loved to read, often reading a book a day. In his retirement, John volunteered at the Vauxhall Golf Course and was involved with the Vauxhall Lions Club. In 2000, John and Velma moved to Lethbridge, where they continued to be active in the community. They volunteered at the Lethbridge Seniors’ Centre and frequently travelled together, visiting the United States and relatives across Canada. John especially appreciated spending time with friends over coffee.
He is lovingly remembered by his children, Cal (Brenda), LeRoy (Linda), and Diane (Orlyn); his grandchildren, Adam (Christina) and Michelle (Andrew); and his great-grandchildren, Hannah, Luca, and George. John is also survived by his sister Fay, as well as numerous in-laws and relatives.
In accordance with John’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. Those wishing to honour his memory are encouraged to take some time to share a coffee and a conversation with a friend or loved one.
Those who wish to donate in John’s memory may contribute to a charity of their choice or to the Good Samaritans at 2687 Garry Dr W, Lethbridge, AB T1K 7R6, or online at https://gss.org/ways-to-support/donate-today.
