1925 – SCHMAUDER – 2012
Posted: September 28th, 2012Mrs. Hanni Schmauder of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Mr. Helmut Schmauder, passed away on Tuesday, September 25th, 2012 at the age of 86 years.
Hanni leaves to cherish her memory two sons: Ted (Phyllis) of Medicine Hat and their children, Karl of Calgary and Andrea (fiancée Travis) of Medicine Hat; and Terry (Velma) of Vernon BC and their son, Dustin of Nanaimo BC; and two sisters in Germany. Besides her husband, Helmut, Hanni was predeceased by her parents, two brothers and two sisters. Hanni was born in Bessarabia and later moved with her family to Germany. While in Germany she met Helmut and they were married in 1950. In 1953, they immigrated to Canada and settled in Medicine Hat in 1959. In 1964, they relocated to a farm in the Schuler area where they farmed until 1975 when they retired to Medicine Hat. Hanni enjoyed being a homemaker and tending her large garden. She will be remembered for her great German food, as no one ever left her table hungry. Hanni also enjoyed the many fishing trips with her husband. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. A very special thanks to the staff at Riverview Care Centre who treated her like family. The Funeral Service will be held in SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Saturday, September 29th, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Julianna Wehrfritz-Hanson officiating. A private family interment will follow in the family plot at Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Hanni’s memory may be made to the Riverview Family Council, c/o Riverview Care Centre, 603 Prospect Drive SW, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 4C2 or to the Charity of One’s Choice.
