SADLEMYER

Sylvia Sadlemyer (nee North) ~ July 13, 1921 – Nov. 16, 2012 Mom passed away on Fri., Nov. 16, 2012 with her daughter Donna by her side.

She was predeceased by her husband George, mother Dorothy Mclean, stepfather Archibald Mclean, grandparents James and Elizabeth North, sisters Jean Hutchinson, Margaret Larence, Betty Mclean, brothers Ernest Mclean, Donald Mclean, John Mclean and sisters-in-law Doris Krause and Laura Blake. Mom is survived by her family, daughters Donna (Don) Byers, Lorna (Brian) Gooding, sons Richard (Marlene), Lee (Eileen), 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild; two sisters Dorothy (Allan) Thompson, Marion Williams and one brother William (Lee-Anne); one nephew Karl Krause and one niece Marilyn Hodel and many great nieces and nephews. Mom was born in the Rogers District, near Mossbank, where she grew up and attended school. She met and married George in 1940. They lived on and farmed the homestead farm west of Mossbank until 1965, when they moved to Maple Creek. Mom worked in the hospital here then moved to the Nursing Lodge where she completed her working life at the age of 65. Mom truly enjoyed retirement life, she stayed very active with card games, shuffleboard, potluck suppers and loved the old time dances. The senior center was a very important place in her life and is where she met many wonderful friends. Mom liked to knit, crochet, embroidery and do jig saw puzzles; in her younger years she was an avid sewer. She very much liked family gatherings, with all the turmoil and noise they bring, until her later years when quiet family dinners were her enjoyment. For the past seven years mom lived in South View Manor and was part of the family there, she had many great memories from various programs and activities. We all will miss you mom! The funeral service was held at the Maple Creek United Church in Maple Creek, Sask. on Thurs., Nov. 22, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Eva Stanley officiating. Interment took place at the Maple Creek Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Rhonda Drury, Tanya Lorenzo, Melody Trytten, Barbara Genert, Jason Sadlemyer, Laurie Braat, David Gooding, Brenda Saufert, Sheldon Gooding, Corey Sadlemyer. Honorary pallbearers were all those who shared in Sylvia’s life. Friends who wish to, may remember Sylvia with a gift to the Cypress Lodge for resident activities.
