Gwendolyn “May” Schreiber September 16, 1916 ~ December 27, 2012. Gwendolyn Dora May Schreiber (Gramma May) left this earth to rest in peace on Thursday, December 27, 2012, but she left it a better place.

May was cherished and loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.  We have all been so very blessed to have this wonderful, kind, strong woman as a mother, grandmother, sister, wife or friend.  May lived every day of her 96 years spreading kindness and joy and when she left a room or a store she always left a smile on the faces of the people she spoke to.  If you were so blessed as to have known May and wish to help spread her light, please do or say  something kind for someone else in her honour.  She would have been thrilled.  May was born on Saturday, September 16, 1916, in Lac Vert, Saskatchewan, and lived most of her life as a long-time resident of the Tisdale area.  She met and married Emil Schreiber while they were both working on the Messer Farm.

Following their marriage they spending many wonderful years on their own family farm just down the road.  May was loving, generous and hard-working and family was very important to her.  All who knew her will tell you that they would be hard pressed to remember May ever uttering a harsh word or a negative comment.  She loved sewing and gardening, taking special pride in her beautiful flower gardens and quilts. May retired to Masterpiece River Ridge in Medicine Hat at the age of 90 and lived out her golden years with her many friends and family as an avid card player and slo-pitch baseball fan.  May will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Betty Funk, Elaine (Rod) Roden and Eda Freedman;  sister, Mona Goodman;  nieces, Katie, Valerie, Gloria and Lynn;  grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, Garnet (Carolyn), Grant, Nicole (Kurtis), Vincent, Tracy (Shawn), Trevor (Kristie), Trina (Thysen), Biatta, Bretton, Justin, Saraphine, Ava, Kage, Keanna, Bailey, Kennedy, Austin, Morgan, Spencer, and TJ – all of whom brought great joy to her.  May was also blessed with an extended family of step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, JoAnn (Keiren), Marc (Amanda), Abby, Jillian, Daniel and Josie.  She was predeceased by husband, Emil;  parents, Percy and Jane Heugh;  brother, Robert (Anne) Heugh;  brother-in- law, Jack; son-in-law, John;  niece, Trauti;  daughter, Gwen (Allan) and great-granddaughter, Trisha.  In May’s honour, a Memorial Tea will be held for family and friends at 4 River Ridge Drive N.W. (Masterpiece), Medicine Hat on Monday, January 7, 2013, at 1:30 P.M.

It is open to all those whose lives she touched.  A Memorial Service will take place in Tisdale, SK. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, where she will be placed to rest with her loving husband, Emil.
