1914 ~ SHERIDAN ~ 2013
Posted: January 23rd, 2013James Francis (Jim) Sheridan passed away peacefully in his 99th year at the Sunnyside Care Centre on 19th January 2013. Jim was a very keen rugby player in his youth, served overseas throughout WWII in the New Zealand Air Force and was subsequently a member of the RCAF Reserve. His lifelong passion was flying and he was a founding member of the Saskatchewan Flying Farmers. He took pride in the fact that he passed “the medical” for his private flying license at the age of 90! He was predeceased by his wife Patricia in 1993. He leaves his son Don with wife Debbie, daughters Vi and Moira with husband Tim and sons Caolan, Rory and Ian. The family thank all Jim’s caregivers especially the amazing, kind and thoughtful staff at the Sunnyside Care Home, Dr. W. Ruzycki and Karen. Profound thanks to Margaret Smith and Russ Harms for years of kindness, and to the Medicine Hat aviation community who in countless ways enriched his life. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Holy Family Parish, Ministry for the Aged, 1451 Strachan Road SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1B 4V3. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 1451 Strachan Road SE, on Friday, January 25th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Father Matthew Emmelkamp, celebrant. Interment will follow in the Family Plot at Hillside Cemetery. We were sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad. I remember how special he was to you, with the funny stories that you told about him. He was an amazing and fine gentleman.
