JACOB HELFRICH
Posted: February 19th, 20131923 ~ 2013
Mr. Jacob Paul Jake Helfrich, beloved husband of Mrs. Pauline Helfrich, passed away peacefully in Medicine Hat on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at the age of 89 years. Along with Pauline, Jacob leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Leonard of Medicine Hat, Michael (Judy) of Calgary as well as one granddaughter, Tabitha, who was a source of great joy and inspiration to him. Jacob will be lovingly remembered by his three sisters, Betty Schall, Ann Middleton and Katherine Steier. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Katherine; one brother, Joe and one sister, Mary Weisbrod. Jake was a hard worker and a good provider. At the age of 56 when many people are considering retirement, he went into farming, an occupation that he enjoyed until his working days were ended by stomach cancer at the age of 74. He enjoyed time spent with family, especially the regular Sunday picnics in Kin Coulee playing cards with relatives and friends. Jakes memory will be cherished without the proceedings of a formal service. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting www.cooksouthland.com) If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Jakes memory may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 1529 Cedar Avenue, Montreal, Quebec, H3G 1A6. Honoured to serve the family is COOK SOUTHLAND Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 4V4. Telephone: 403-527-6455.
